AIX Architects is an architectural bureau with extensive knowledge and experience. Our company has a solid framework, which embraces knowledge-sharing and efficient resource management. It also enriches our professional life and ensures the best possible outcome for our clients.

We have a staff of 80 people, most of whom are architects, but there are also interior designers, engineers, planning architects, antiquarians, theatre consultants and lighting designers, finance staff and IT technicians.

We focus on three main areas: city planning, new construction and renovation / restoration.

Our urban planning commissions include visionary design proposals for major areas and master planning of properties and entire neighbourhoods. For the most part, we are commissioned by municipalities and property developers on the basis of competitions and parallel assignments.

Within the area of new construction, we work mainly on residential properties, schools and public buildings at all stages; from design concept to finished construction documents.

Renovation and restoration involves preserving existing buildings and, usually, adding extensions in a sensitive environment. Drottningholm Palace and the Royal Dramatic Theatre are examples of environments that we manage.

The firm’s antiquarians carry out cultural history assessments, and develop preservation programmes and preservation and maintenance plans. We also design interiors in old or completely new environments. One of our distinctive areas of expertise is theatre design, which includes theatre technology and lighting.

We ensure that ISO 9001 environmental and occupational health and safety standards are complied with in the construction process. Our standards and environmental policies are documented in accordance with this system. We also produce customised environmental plans or environmental programmes.

We have an even balance of men and women, and of different age groups, on our staff. Many of our young designers have studied and worked elsewhere in Europe. Our goal is to create expressive and functional architecture. To achieve this, we believe in a creative design approach, which incorporates both excellent technical solutions and knowledge of human needs.

Expertise within various fields is required in order to maintain a breadth of knowledge and proficiency in a wide range of projects. For that reason, we strive to nurture and develop our special skills. We participate in seminars and give lectures. Many of our employees are also involved in teaching at universities and colleges, which ensures close contact with the field of education and research.

Our wide-ranging expertise and experience is a key factor for our business. Internal discussions can illuminate a wide range of issues from different perspectives. This has proved useful among architects and planners; in relationships between architects and antiquarians; and also between interior designers and theatre and lighting designers. We continuously collaborate with consultants in other fields, such as landscape architecture, construction and energy.

AIX Architects is project-focused, and we put a unique team together for each project. The company’s management and operations are led by a CEO, who has the assistance of a steering group and a finance department. AIX is a joint-stock company owned by 15 members of staff.

Every project is modelled in CAD using AutoCAD software. We normally use Revit for 3D project management, but are also skilled in using ArchiCAD. For master planning projects and plan overviews, we use Novapoint. For Illustrations, 3D modelling and lighting designs we employ the most widely-used programs in the industry. We also have special programs for animations and movie presentations.
